A.R.P.A. BORMIO: SNOW-WEATHER CENTER

Bormio Snow-Weather center offers a videoconference solution enlarged to the public Internet. The system consists of a series of equipments present in the Bormio head office. Those equipments give the possibility to participate to events also to people not present in the head office, even in active mode, if these people are authorized. The active mode is the audio/video information transmission to the rest of conference participants from these authorized users. People who wants to participate to the conferences has to fill in a request on-line form with personal data. If the request is accepted, the applicant receives a confirmation e-mail containing user name and password, data to use to access the on-line events. After having selected the desired conference, the user accesses to a page where an intervention panel is present giving him the possibility to make questions to desired participants, and to visualize the integrated audio and video streaming of the selected conference. The contents of that streaming are decided by the spokesman: he can decide to send simply his presentation or to send live images of the conference.
Always inside this page there is a link to Power Point presentations pertinent to the conference. The user can see that presentations using the browser. If a user wants to participate in active mode to the conference, he has to use the panel described before, sending an intervention request. The user receives as answer some technical parameters to insert into NetMeeting settings.
After this he can participate in active mode to the conference, even if not physically present.
